Somaliland Crimes against Humanity: Against Khatumo State

Published without a byline

October 10, 2012

Recently, Khatumo Forum for Foreign Affairs came across gruesome pictures of decomposed bodies of civilian nomads..laying head to heal in a small room. The images themselves describe how these people were killed. This is one among many mass executions committed since the Somaliland Isaaq forces set foot on the land of Khatumo State of Somalia. These innocent nomadic civilian in these shocking images were captured in January 26, 2012, Shangalle area near Buhoodle and later massacred. Out of the 31 victims who names are listed here, 18 of the them are from the same family.

This barbaric act is one among many cold blooded atrocities committed by the Isaaq Secessionists which are yet to surface. We are so concerned about the ongoing clannish cleansing, genocide, forced migration, arbitrary arrest and detention, torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading and humiliating treatment of the innocent and peaceful nomadic civilians. We are also so concerned about the unconscionably dilatory response and the lack of responsible actions from the international community regarding these crimes and how they are oblivious to the human plight in the SSC regions of Khatumo State of Somalia.

It is time for the international community to step in and stop overlooking and turning a blind eye to the genocide and clannish cleansing of the occupation forces of the Isaaq clan. It is time for the Human Rights Organizations and the United Nations Human Rights Commission to end the indifference to the dreadful catastrophe that is shaping the lives of the people in the SSC regions. It is time for all responsible and shed light on these murderous techniques that are tantamount to human apocalypse.

Clannish Cleansing and Pressure Tactics:

Ever since the Isaaq occupation forces set foot on the SSC regions of Khatumo State of Somalia, they were and still are committing unprecedented and untold human rights violations against the people of those regions.  In order to solidify their grip on the SSC regions and promote their secessionist objective, they overtly and clandestinely undertake systematic decimation of the people of SSC regions, and brutal rapping, mutilating and killing of women and young girls. Clannish cleansing is day to day occurrence in the SSC regions of Khatumo State occupied by Isaaq enclave. The secessionists utilize various methods and strategies to drive out the SSC people from their homes and land.

The Isaaq secessionists through military might carry out genocide and other monstrous pressure tactics such as repressions and intimidations, poisoning water wells, shooting and killing herds of animals, slaughtering the animals for their consumption, deliberately destroying and burning the homes of innocent civilian and rapping women and young girls in the area. These schemes are intended to accomplish their policy of clannish uprooting and expelling innocent families from their homes, towns and cities and to claim that territory of Somaliland is exclusively inhabited by the Isaaq clan only which in turn paves the way to get legitimacy for their secessionist ambitions and goals. These and many other indescribable egregious crimes are pervasive and prevalent in the SSC regions of Khatumo State of Somalia.

Somaliland Human Slaughter House and Massacre Fields.

The Somaliland occupation forces launch attacks on villages and town and capture innocent men, women and children and transfer and flock them to their notorious slaughter houses where they are tortured before they are brutally murdered. They beat them inhumanely with rifle-buts and savagely and barbarically mutilate and disfigure the bodies of their captives. They sadistically disfigure victims alive with knives, axes, swords and bayonets. Then, these cowards tear the bodies of the innocent captives with bullets. The torrential floods of their blood gush and pour out of the slaughter houses and fields. The walls and windows of the slaughter houses are spattered and showered with blood stains of the innocent men, women and children. The corpses remain in the slaughter house for days and nights.

These heartless criminals enjoy, celebrate and cheer callously standing on top of bleeding bodies, broken skulls oozing brains of rotting corpses. Sometimes, the corpses are not buried and left where they were butchered, exposed to the scorching tropical sun to rot and to be eaten by wild dogs, hyenas and rats. At other times, and to further disgrace and humiliate the SSC people, they amass the corpses and bury them in shallow mass graves where flesh eating animals exhume and eat them. The following horrific and gruesome images attest to and indicate what has happened and still happen in the Human Slaughter Fields of Isaq enclave.

With these evidences and in light of these monstrous crimes the international community has an obligation to act and to act promptly in order to prevent further genocide against the people of SSC regions. Moreover, the Khatumo Forum for Foreign Affairs presents the following recommendations to the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations and other non-governmental Human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International:

To open full criminal investigation of human rights violations against the people of SSC regions of Khatumo State of Somalia by Somaliland enclave. To bring the leaders of the Isaaq secessionists and all those who are criminally responsible directly or indirectly for these mass killings, to justice. To send human rights monitors and observers to SSC regions of Khatumo State of Somalia in order to curb and prevent further massacres and clannish cleansing.

Here are some of the names of the victims whose bodies are shown in these horrendous and atrocious scenes. Some of them had families and children. Their wives widowed and their children orphaned. Khatumo Forum for Foreign Affairs is alerting you that these images are the tip of the iceberg. We are waiting for other genocidal acts to surface.
