New Canadian Life: Fifty Episodes on the Air

Before public policy and humanitarian work took up most of my time, I spent a stretch of years behind a microphone at Ryerson's community station, Met Radio 1280 AM. Alongside my co-host Glen, I helped put together New Canadian Life — a name I coined for the show — a weekly production with CultureLink for newcomers navigating their first years in Canada.

The show ran to more than fifty episodes over its run, covering the questions that actually come up when you land in a new country: employment services, settlement supports, housing, civic life, and the everyday experience of building a life here. We brought on newcomers, settlement workers and community organizations to talk through it, rather than talk at it.

I have kept meaning to bring this archive over from SoundCloud for years. Here it finally is — the full run, playable below.

Full playlist also on SoundCloud, hosted by Met Radio 1280 AM.
