Jinac Duullaan II “Your Worst Enemy, Always, is One of Your Own Trade”?..

Recently, I wrote an opinion piece in Somali language titled “JInac Duullaan” that several Somali websites had published  , which roughly translates to “Khaatumo People are now a ‘Jinac Colony’ – a bigger size of ant-like insects that always tend to move together to one same direction”.  An objective fact Checks on Khaatumo, It by and large, conveyed the solid unity and resolve of the Khatumo citizens – a fact that more frustrates the enemy within Khaatumo than those outsiders.  Here, we borrow the Spanish saying “Your Worst Enemy, Always, is One of Your Own Trade”.

Now it has come to my attention that an insulting, over the top, response has been posted to Boocame website which can be described as a Cock and Bull story. Unfortunately, the writer forgetting that haste makes waste, everyone clearly seeing the foam at his mouth, he characterizes my opinion piece as Horufadhi’s Editorial ! He also overlooked the issues at hand and went on with an exclusive personal attack aiming at Professor Ali Khaliif Galaydh, but nothing else! I wish to clarify that I am not responding for Dr. Galaydh. However, to be fair, I don’t let this opportunity pass by not mentioning the indebtedness and high regard the vast majority of Khaatumo people holds for the professor and other G11 members.

It appears that the writer has lost his head and just repeats a feeding frenzy against Dr. Ali Khalif Galaydh.  As such, the writer comes across as a man not playing with a full deck, and you already noticed that, largely, I have composed a response of idioms to help enlighten the atmosphere for him. While, I will also try point out to contradictions in his piece. The gentleman who wrote his opinion in Boocame  showed without doubt that he can’t cut the mustard, so, as a back seat driver, he opted to insult and negatively and destructively criticize from the sidelines.

Some contradictions easily noticeable in his opinion (pick up your ears Mr. writer):

1.      The writer states “…a former grade eight Casa-Balbalaare high school teacher…!”  This indicates that he can’t figure out the difference between an intermediate and secondary school. Obviously, it is hard to expect him evaluate something more important and complex than that.

2.      The author starts with unreservedly hailing Dr. Ali Galaydh as a master of “…institutional origination and bringing for an idea from the drawing boards to physical existence and to Somalia Wide name recognition.” And he adds “for sure, this is an unparalleled accomplishment.” Yet again, in the remainder of his piece, he irresponsibly demeans the all rounded very successful and much respected (among all Somalis and Khaatumo) professor, elder, and statesman. For example, he falsely misrepresents the facts by claiming that Mr. Galaydh was not successful in his time as Somalia’s Prime Minister. On the contrary, it’s a known fact, that President Abdulkassim Salad had regretted his involvement in undermining Dr. Galaydh. It had been reported that Dr. Abdulkassim later realized that the failures of his government were largely attributed with his loss of Dr. Ali Galaydh as a prime minister

3.      He further declares  Dr. Galaydh was the leader and where the buck stops as far as Khaatumo is concerned. But he contradicts himself by confirming that Dr. ALI did not assume the leadership of Khaatumo and allowed others to lead, he says, “…Khaatumo needed a leader on the on-set. He chose not to stand for it. Thus making space for men, who with questionable and lessor integrity that had no history of putting the peoples’ aspirations, welfare, and interest ahead of their political careers…”

4.      Add this, he continues to tell, “…Beyond motivating the union, one must respect its diversity and inclusiveness….a unifier, not a divider, and someone who is effective and result driven through persuasion and respect…” Excellent! We all know that this is exactly what Dr. Ali Galaydh, Dr. Ali Essa Abdi, the rest of the G11, and other Khaatumo elders, intellectuals,various sectors of our community had done to unite us and set up the Khaatumo State of Somalia. Everyone is able to recall how our society was fragmented including our traditional leaders and how that misery had been changed and overcome. The credit goes to the patience, hard work, diplomacy, tact, and courtesy of Mr. Ali Galaydh, Dr, Ali Essa Abdi and colleagues. The writer attested to this reality, and how Dr. Galaydh and colleagues are effective and result oriented through persuasion and respect as we mentioned above, “…Triple A’s for Dr Ali in institutional origination and for bringing an idea from the drawing boards to existence…”

5.       The writer throughout his writing maintains that Dr. Galaydh is everything that stands for Khaatumo , he is all the human resources in Khaatumo – the leader and flag bearer, president, the minister, the low level official, the soldier, the tax collector, and even the population. Dr. Galaydh is everything in Khaatumo and nothing else exists. In addition, the author insists and believes that Dr. Ali Khaliif is the natural resources in Khaatumo – the land, sea, and sky over Khaatumo, the mountains, the valleys, the trees, the livestock and the oil prospects.  Afterwards, the guy reverses himself 360 degrees and boldly says, you know what, “…Unfortunately, though, Mr. Galaydh could not be synonymous with Khaatumo, the perceptions and optics in Somalia is defined in this circle…” Now all of a sudden, things came down to mere perceptions and nothing is concrete. Thank you my friend. With regard to Khaatumo enemies, Mr. Galaydh does not create new enemies for Khaatumo.  FYI, Puntland and Somaliland were existed enemies, and the new enemy Mr. Culusow (The SFG President) and his government had started the animosity against Khaatumo by openly and sarcastically siding with the secessionist clan in Hargeysa long before Mr. Galaydh or any Khaatumo official responded. The Khatumites were furious about our response to Mr. Culusow and regime to take so long. The Khaatumo citizens are asking to cut relations with Culusow and his administration.

6.      You going to love this one. The writer lectures about reasonability, by confidently declaring, “…No body could change the world overnight and good politicians realize that. In the long run, there is not much a politician could accomplish in a year or two…” Yes reasonability is what is missing throughout his mumbo jumbo, and at the end he realized that Rome was not built in one night. Merci (This is thank you in French, right). And, by the way, Khaatumo existed for 1 ½ year so far, not even two years, hum, good to know.

7.      Again and again, the list of serious contradictions continue on: Let’s look at this, “…Cooler heads to plan, organize, and build should been allowed to prevail”. Nonetheless, this stance is immediately contradicted on the same paragraph, the writer states “Liberating Las-Anod should have been the off shoot, not an end in itself…” Come on, you just been talking about cooler heads, planning, organization, preparations, and patience!

8.      The title of the piece “What Ali Khalif Galaydh and Khaatumo’s Blunders Have in Common” is as confusing as the body paragraphs. My friend, we don’t see any comparisons about Dr. Galaydh and the so called Khaatumo’s blunders. In your piece, you only covered a targeted character assassination on Dr. Ali Khalif. The good news, everyone sees that you are on the short leash of Mr. Faroole whose agenda of Khaatumo is doomed to fail  Faroole’s cruelty and betrayal of Khaatumo and people is in its last gasps

9.      Lastly, like a chicken its head cut off, he concludes by asking the wrong question, “…one could also legitimately ask, whether Dr. Galaydh is responsible for all Khaatumo’s woes? And the answer is definitely yes (the writer responding to his own out of touch with reality question) ….because he acted as the head of the state and that is where the buck stops….” No, No, No, don’t try to pass the buck, you already told us that all your rubbish about Dr. Ali were only perceptions. Here is a piece of advice to you, don’t attempt to misleadingly look for a scapegoat, the short comings we have in our beloved Khaatumo is just a one stage in the process of things going through their natural course. The fact of the matter, in this journey, the buck stops at all of us – The traditional leaders, the G11, the rotating presidency members and their team, the latter, whom you vilified  beyond repair in your article. Khaatumo people have the utmost respect for those 3 Khaatumo presidents and their team. It’s just that their term of service has come to an end. The Khaatumo people, being on the same page, are replacing the temporary Khaatumo administration with a new energetic leadership and a permanent government. Khaatumo people who are driven up to the wall by their enemies are doing the serious work, because they know the difficult situations they find themselves in, and that drastic times call for drastic measures. Again it’s another noble history for Khaatumo people in the making. Sorry, the forth coming Khaatumo3 conference is not about Dr. Ali Galaydh – a Good Samaritan who has gone the extra mile. The writer has a dream with a wrong agenda.

All in all, to single out Mr. Galaydh, the writer’s piece is an insult to the intelligence of all men and women of all ages (all Khaatumites) who sacrificed their talent, time, efforts, and energy to change the current humiliating course of history on Khaatumo – all the determined people who positively and honestly participated and brought Khaatumo into fruition, including the members of G11.  Khaatumo is the ownership of the people of Khaatumo, it came into being by the desire of the people. Dr. Galaydh and other G11 members responded to contribute, when they realized that their people are finally stand ready to do their homework by themselves, because they are sick and tired to contract it to others any longer. We don’t usually respond to

Faroole’s known agents. However, we don’t let it go either, when a new one (Anna haddaan kooyey) disguised as a loyal Khatumite emerges, of which the writer of the aforementioned piece of opinion is one of them. But don’t expect a back and forth circle argument with him. The mission is to unmask the traitors to the Khaatumo’s cause and move on. Anyone who tries to revive a Puntland that encompasses Khaatumo, or Somaliland for that matter is beating a dead horse. With zero tolerance, we say to them “Elvis had left the building”.
