Khaatumo Letters…Will the Prime Minister stand up for the Blue Somali Flag Unionists!

Abdi Weli Gaas, Somali Prime Minister
Over a week ago, the president of Somalia has formally welcomed Khaatumo State to join the TFG. Yesterday, He has also ratified in a letter that Hiiraan State be accepted as one the newest Provinces to arrive in Mogadishu. There is no dispute about the latter to be accepted, However, lately, there is an increased chatter about the legitemacy of the former. It all began when a Khaatumo recognition letter was issued from the office of the Prime Minister as per the direction of President Shiikh Shariif. However, A few days later, the appearance of what seemed to be another letter negating the contents of the previous one allegedly came from the PMO’s office; thanks to Somaliland and Puntland administrations who are openly challenging and undermining the democratically established Khaatumo State of Somalia.
In an interview with the Media, The Somali Government’s defense minister Mr. Hussein Arab, who hails from the Isaq clan _a dominant goup in Somaliland_denied to follow his president’s orders to support Khaatumo and thus the Union of Somalia. Instead, he displayed a strong vocal support to Somaliland’s secession aspirations. In the last few months alone, these dreams led the Somaliland militia to kill hundreds of innocent Khaatumo civilians in the cities of Buhodle and Lasanod. All in the name of grabbing more land and ethnic cleansing. “I must send a correction notice to some Somalilanders who claim that Sool Sanaag and Cayn regions are part of the Somaliland administration in Hargaisa” Said Jama Abdi, a Khaatumo Historian. “quite the contrary, over 99.9 percent of SSC folks have never signed on to secessionism; That’s why in January 12, 2012. the Sool Sanaag Cayn Congress convened in historical Taleh City gave birth to a pro Union Democratic Khaatumo State. In fact, SSC has always been part and parcel of a SOMALI federation in which the pioneer Dervishes _present day Khaatumo folks_were instrumental in its formation. The mere fact that SSC neighbours some Somaliland regions does not make one a believer in secessionism; the very anti-thesis and a foreign concept to the traditionally unionist Khaatumo natives” continued Mr. Jama.
To make matters even more interesting, a third letter surfaced yesterday, allegedly apologizing to the President of Somalia and dispelling the contents of the second letter while finally acknowledging that the first letter is after all binding. Also, the saga continued this morning when a reporter _ impersonating as a “pro Somalilander and appearing to be undermining the Recognition letters_ made a phone call to the office of the PM and the TFG’s Minister of livestock and Farming, Mr. Mohamed Mohamud Haji Ibrahim _the sole signatory to all these letters. Listen to Mr. Ibrahim’s conversation as he conspires against his own government. In order to continue reversing his positions as a bargaining tool, this Minister asked for bribes and $3000 cash to be wired to him through the Dahabshiil Money Transfer Company.
The above inconsistency and lack of professionalism among civil servant clerks at the office of the PM clearly has caused a great deal of anxiety and lack of clarity among many Khaatumo State residents. How much did the Prime Minister know about this fiasco? What should be the consequences of his Deputy who was in charge during his absence? Did the Prime Minister directly issue the orders knowing full well that his actions contravened the Presidents’. Why did the PM abandon his Ministerial duty to welcome the democratic wishes of new and emmerging Somali States as per the new Road Map?
Furthermore, according to reports from the reliable RaxanReeb Somali Newsportal, the Minister upon his arrival in Mogadishu yesterday declined to comment on the matter. The PM’s silence on clarifying his office’s position on the now infamous Kh-State Recognition letter is a clear betrayal of his duties and responibility to come clean and address his constituents. “you cannot appear to contradict your own president and be allowed to keep silent” reiterated Mr. Jama. “Why would you undermine legitimate Unionists who came to your office bearing the Blue Somali Flag with the expectation that you would not only lead with conviction but also defend the nation’s flag, its values and integrity? Is this a clear support on the part of the PM of Flags that are multicoloured such as those of Somaliland and Puntland administrations? “One cannot choose to wear and be happily wrapped around the federal flag as was the case during the PM’s arrival at the airport in Mogadishu yesterday and yet be completely SILENT on those young boys who are dying for it in Khaatumo’s Buhodle and Lasanod Cities” stated Mr. Jama.
