Tone down the rhetoric or face the consequences, Faroole forewarned

The letters that had been purportedly trickling out of the Interim Somali Prime Minister’s office over the past few days and onto the Somali media circles are being viewed by the Somali people as a an official joke to the people of Sool, Sanaag and Ayn. The first letter carried statements to the effect that the Khaatumo State of Somalia has been recognised by the Transitional Federal Government; the second letter stated that the recognition has been withdrawn. And there is the third letter, you know – it carried the same contents as the first letter! No one is surprised by these letters, and we are not interested whether they are part of an official government policy or not but we are very much in shock at the extent to which Mr Faroole has upped the ante over the past few days. What a high risk shenanigans from the Garoowe strongman.

But August 2012 is coming, and whoever made these tasteless jokes on behalf of Faroole of Puntland faces the full wrath of the Somali people everywhere. It is an undeniable fact that the people of Sool, Sanaag and Ayn region are loved by the overwhelming majority of the Somali people, and whoever needs their votes, Faroole will not be able to save them from the revulsion that is coming their way, come August 2012. An investigation into this matter is currently underway.
Moreover, the SSC region do not need the recognition of any institution, be it the TFG or Puntland. For your information, this region has far larger land mass than both Puntland and Somaliland with the most underground energy resources anywhere inside East Africa, and we are watching and protecting it for the benefit of the Somali people. Therefore, for this reason and many others, the Somali people recognise the existence of Sool, Sanaag and Ayn, and they have greater respect for the inhabitants of this region than most of the other neighbouring communities within the North-Central Somalia.
Let me be blunt for a moment, if you don’t mind: Out of selflessness, the SSC people assisted the Isaaq group in order to overcome the trauma they suffered from their gorilla war with the military government in the late 80s and helped them set up their own governance mechanisms; they did the same thing for the Majeerteen seven years later. And although we heard very little bad mouthing from the Isaaq group over the past few days, the Majeerteen elite have shown a shameful disrespect to the historic and patriotic Dhulbahantes.

Faroole should know that the game is over, and that the mafia style backdoor dealings will end in August 2012. And we, the SSC people, have had our largest convention with well over four thousand delegates in the historic town of Taleeh. The once-in-a-century unprecedented gathering at Taleeh shows that the people of SSC really do mean business. For the record, the first Darwiish convention was held in December 1912, just before the Jidbaale campaign and few months before Colonel Richard Conyngham Corfield was gunned down within twenty minutes into the battle for Dul Madoobe on August 9, 1913. Faroole should also know that the Somalia civil war is not officially over yet, so unless he tunes down his rhetoric, the SSC people will exercise their right to defend their dignity. And, if a new conflict escalates in the area, it is certain that there will be no digging of oil and the SSC people can, for sure, endure hardships at the battlefield better than Faroole and his likes can.
And finally, the SSC people are prepared to put the Somaliland issue aside while we deal with any new confrontations with Faroole and his cronies, we mean it. Faroole should not go on air again and claim to represent us in any capacity.
